Scott Miller - Sr. Manager of Safety and Travel Services for the department of Aviation with Valero

As a child Scott said he would either grow up to be a pilot, or a dentist, not realizing that he would do both. After graduating from dental school, completing his residency in general practice and entering private practice he set out with a goal to become a professional pilot at some point in his life. Scott reached that initial goal in 1988 becoming a commercial rated pilot and flight instructor and then receiving this Airline Transport Pilots License in 1991. All of this was accomplished while maintaining a family dental practice. He became a corporate pilot in 2000 and was offered a job as a Captain with Valero Energy in 2005. At that point Scott sold his practice and relocated his family to San Antonio. As a pilot for Valero he flew the Lear 60, Citation X and the Gulfstream 450 and 550. He still flies as a captain on the Gulfstream 550 and has been literally all over the world flying these planes in support of Valero.

Scott was promoted to Manager of Aviation Safety in 2012 and was chosen to lead the commercial travel team in 2015. He now serves as Sr. Manager of Safety and Travel Services for the department of Aviation with Valero.

Scott is a board member for the Partnership for Corporate Aviation Training and a Committee member for the NBAA International Operators Committee. Scott is a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Reserve Dental Corps and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2013. He holds an academic appointment as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center, School of Dentistry, Department of Comprehensive Dentistry.

His education includes a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, School of Dentistry and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Scott has ben married to Pam Miller for 36 years and enjoys spending time with her sailing at Canyon Lake or bicycling in the hills surrounding their home in Boerne, TX.
