As the Executive Director of the San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau, Casandra Matej oversees the promotion of San Antonio’s $11 billion visitor industry, with a $19 million budget and more than 80 employees.  The SACVB is responsible for convention and group visitor sales, public relations, film location marketing, and leisure visitor marketing. Through these efforts, the SACVB helps drive the city’s hospitality industry, which has an $11 billion economic impact, employs approximately 100,000 locally and welcomes more than 25 million visitors annually

Matej joined the SACVB in June 2011, bringing 17 years of experience in the Convention and Visitors Bureau, Hotel, and Leisure industries. Prior to joining the SACVB, she served as the Senior Vice President of Sales and Services for the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau.

In her seven years overseeing those efforts in Dallas, Casandra restructured the sales divisions, resulting in a 40 percent growth of convention room night sales. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Speech Communications with a concentration in organizational Communications from the University of Texas at Austin.

Casandra and her husband Chris are proud parents to 1-year old John, 3–year old Ellie and step-daughters Madison and Carlie. The Matej family enjoys boating and exploring San Antonio’s culinary scene.
